If your class is looking for STEAM integrated lessons to make learning hands-on, let me tell you how In-School field trips are fast and easy to book! This week I was in a classroom teaching lessons about minerals that involved magnets. We talked about the make-up of the earths core, how magnets are sourced, load stones and how positive and negative poles apply to pull and push/repel and attract, and all 33 students were able to make and take their own Spirograph magnetic mazes as well as magnetic poles to show their friends and family. Giving students the opportunity to bring their creative experiments home to display, discuss and play always lead to a greater understanding of the applied curriculum. The at-home application is so important to allow these young scientists to continue learning while they use the vocabulary to describe their work and their exciting lessons with family and friends.
