The Science Lady offers many different programs for groups of all ages.
During the summer the Science Lady holds hands-on camps and one day workshops at local California and Hawaii schools, YMCA's, museums, parks and can be seen at many special events. Some of her camp descriptions are below:Junior Chem Head: In this hands-on chemistry science Lab, Campers will be transformed into secret agents while solving and experimenting with chemicals and elements by making flowers that change colors, glow in the dark goop, balls of fire and color changing crystals, make foam, super balls, hot/cold packs and more! Engineer’s / Contractors Camp: Campers will learn how stress and forces are used as they build Bridges, make their own catapults, cardboard robots and construct their own invention using K’nex pieces. Super Spy /Wizard Science: Embark on a secret mission as campers make cool gadgets. Use chemistry to unlink the mysterious chemicals, make mini microscopes, code breakers, buzzers and more. Spaced Out / Rock-On: Take a journey through space as you make your own mini solar system. Star gaze into constellations as campers map out the stars. Join NSTA from past to present as we learn about missions, space shuttles, mars rovers, and more! Then once we land back on Earth, campers will dig for fossils, start their own 15 piece rock and mineral collection, build and erupt a volcano, and learn about sundials. Body Works / Grossology: Do you gross out easily? How far does a frog leap? How many eyes does an insect have? Dissect and explore the inside of real biologic specimens. Campers dissect frogs, insects, sheep eyes, squids and more. Then compare and contrast how your own body functions to how other living things function, as we investigate human anatomy and learn about bones, muscles, and functions. Physics Factory / Toy Shop Science: Campers will go into their own toy shop and learn the physical science behind how toys actually work. As they make projects including marble roller coasters, airplanes, kaleidoscopes, flashlights, magnetic games, ice cream makers, air pressure rockets, and more! Carnival Science: This camp is for the amusement park junkies! Thank you, Isaac Newton, for teaching us the science of movement. Campers - if it moves, we will make it! As camp turns into an amusement park with zip-line balloon, magnetic games, optical illusions, marshmallow launchers, sailboats, marble roller coasters and more. Spectrum of Science: Each day participants will put another science cap on as they enter the world of chemistry and make projects with chemicals. Then trade your science cap in for goggles and explore the fields of physics and create games and toys. Finish up camp by suiting up and going into space to make a mini solar system, then back down to Earth to find fossils and more! Comic-Con Camp: Learn the Science behind the creatures of your favorite comics and cartoons and what these creatures eat, where they live, the science behind Aqua-man, Ironman, Spiderman, Batman, Groot, Storm and more.... Star Tours: Use Principals of Science to fight off Darth Vader. Visit rock formations and caves, build light sabers, enter space and explore the galaxy , grow mini Chewbacca's and have planetary fun. Women of Science Rule/ Craftsman: This camp is for boys and girls. Learn about amazing female scientists who discovered new elements, comets, dinosaur species and more. Learn what Marie Curie was stirring up in her lab, and how Sally Ride became the first woman in space. Learn the 'Secrets of Chemistry,' while campers make Rocket Balloons; Cosmetics using Rocks; Candles with Senses; Chemical Reactions; Kitchen Chemistry and more! Invention Convention / Electrifying Science: Light -up, buzz-off, and rev your motors for this class. Learn the basic functions of circuitry using batteries, buzzers, motors. Make Morse code games, mini flashlights, LEDS, batteries, spin-art game. |
Edutainment assembly for large audience participation: Electrifying hands-on experiments that will raise your hair. “See”, “Hear”, and “Watch” sound travel through the room. Learn about Inventors from the past. Witness Chemical Reactions. All this and MORE in a stimulating 45-50 minute Physics and Chemistry presentation...My kids love spending Spring Break with Vicki. They meet new friends, bring home projects, and get excited telling me about what they learned." |
